NJ Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Kidnapping, Other Crimes

Glen Graves, 33, of Atlantic City, NJ, was sentenced to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison for a series of serious crimes, including first-degree kidnapping, second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight.Ad The sentencing was conducted by the Honorable Bernard E. DeLury, Jr., P.J.Cr., under the No Early Release Act, which mandates an 85% period of parole ineligibility.

Upon release, Graves will be subject to five years of intensive parole supervision.

The charges stem from an incident on December 27, 2022, when Graves forcibly entered an apartment in Atlantic City while armed with a handgun. He ransacked the apartment and forced the resident, at gunpoint, to drive to a local bank, where he compelled the victim to withdraw $600 from a drive-through ATM.

Graves fled the scene after a police response to a 911 call, discarding latex gloves and a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number during his escape. Law enforcement later identified Graves through surveillance video, witness statements, and DNA evidence from the gloves.

In addition to the kidnapping, Graves was sentenced for previous offenses.AdOn August 5, 2022, he fired a handgun at an occupied vehicle in Atlantic City, and on December 4, 2022, he eluded police officers in Egg Harbor City by fleeing a motor vehicle stop in a stolen vehicle.

Graves was apprehended in the spring of 2024 through a collaborative effort by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Galloway Township Police Department.
