NJ Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering His Mother

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Friday, July 12, Sean Daly, 53, of Mays Landing, pleaded guilty before the Honorable Joseph A. Levin, J.S.C., to first-degree murder.AdUnder the terms of his guilty plea, officials say, Mr. Daly is expected to be sentenced to a term of 30 years in New Jersey State Prison without the possibility of parole.

According to officials, on the morning of March 20, 2024, the Hamilton Township Police were dispatched to a residence following the report of an assault between Mr. Daly and his mother, Melba Daly, 74, also from Mays Landing.

 

Upon arrival, police located Ms. Daly deceased from multiple stab wounds in the residence, officials stated. AdAuthorities say Mr. Daly subsequently confessed to having killed Ms. Daly during an interview with members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Hamilton Township Police Department.

Mr. Daly’s sentencing is scheduled for October 11, 2024., officials said.
