A jury has found a Camden man guilty of assaulting a woman in front of first responders who were addressing the emergency.

According to an announcement from Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, Bruce White, 46, was convicted on March 19, 2025, of one count of third-degree aggravated assault.

The verdict followed a three-day trial in Camden County Superior Court.

The case stemmed from an incident on June 20, 2022, when Camden police and firefighters responded to a house fire on the 800 block of Elm Street.

As emergency crews arrived, officers witnessed White punch a 57-year-old woman in the face, striking her with a closed fist.

The blow fractured her jaw.

White was immediately taken into custody at the scene. Investigators later learned that White attacked the woman because he believed an unfounded rumor that she was responsible for starting the fire.

Authorities confirmed there was no evidence to support that claim.

White now faces a potential sentence of up to five years in state prison.

His sentencing is currently scheduled for May 16, 2025.
