NJ Man Convicted in 2018 Fatal Shooting After Five-Week Trial

A Camden man has been convicted for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Nuquan Reddick in 2018, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.AfOn October 10, 2024, after a five-week jury trial in Camden County Superior Court, 44-year-old Shomari Kinard was found guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

The shooting occurred on May 10, 2018, at approximately 8:13 p.m. outside the Greattown Grocery and Deli, located at the intersection of Louis Street and Morton Street in Camden.

Prosecutors stated that Kinard shot Reddick seven times in the back. Reddick succumbed to his injuries two months later, on July 10, 2018.

 

An investigation led by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit used surveillance footage, witness statements, and cell phone data to identify Kinard as the shooter. AdAssistant Prosecutors Keith Carmy and Danielle Masi led the prosecution team, while Sergeant James Brining of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Sergeant Frank Cardoso of the Camden County Police Department handled the investigation.

Kinard is scheduled for sentencing on December 10, 2024.
