NJ Man Charged with Murder in Sayreville Shooting

Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a Sayreville man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on August 20, 2024, in the Borough of Sayreville.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on August 20, at approximately 9:49 p.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting a shooting on Swider Drive.AdUpon their arrival, officials said, officers located Jeremiah Brown, 22, of Sayreville, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to officials, an investigation led by Detective Michael Pirigyi of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective Michelle Coppola of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Daniel Adediran, 18, of Sayreville, shot Brown which ultimately led to his death.

This does not appear to be a random act of violence; the preparator, Adediran, knew the victim, authorities say.

Officials said on August 28, Adediran was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

 

Adediran is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of his Pre-Trial Detention hearing, authorities say.
