Authorities in Bergen County announced the arrest of Jonan Pascasio-Erazo of Waldwick on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and obscenity.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Waldwick Police under the direction of Chief Mark Messner.
According to Prosecutor Musella, on Friday, August 4, the Waldwick Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child.
An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Waldwick Police revealed that Jonan Pascasio-Erazo sexually assaulted the child in the following towns: Waldwick, Mahwah, and Belmar, Monmouth County.
Authorities say these crimes occurred between the years 2012 and 2023.
As a result of the investigation, on Friday, August 4, Pascasio-Erazo was arrested in Waldwick and charged.
According to officials, he was charged with four counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, four counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, four counts of second-degree sexual assault, four counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact, four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree obscenity for persons under the age of 18.
Pascasio-Erazo was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, officials say.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
