NJ Correctional Officer, Two Others Charged with Conspiring to Smuggle Contraband into Atlantic County Justice Facility

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Monday, May 20, Atlantic County Correctional Officer Christopher Piccioni, 33, from Swedesboro, was charged with Second-Degree Official Misconduct, Second-Degree Conspiracy to Commit Official Misconduct, Fourth-Degree Tampering with Evidence, and a Petty Disorderly Persons Offense of Providing an Inmate Other Contraband.AdOfficials stated two other individuals, a female named Qydreia Smith, 40, from Mays Landing, and a male named Dion Robinson, 39, from Egg Harbor Twp., were also charged with Second-Degree Conspiracy to Commit Official Misconduct.

During the month of January 2024, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office received intelligence about contraband being smuggled into the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing, officials said. 

During a four-month investigation, officials say, Piccioni was identified as a suspect.

According to officials, Piccioni was found to have conspired with Smith as well as Robinson, an inmate in the facility, to smuggle contraband into the facility on multiple occasions in return for payment.

Piccioni was also found to have tampered with evidence during the investigation, authorities say.
