New Jersey's Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, alongside the Division on Civil Rights (DCR), has initiated an investigation into Clark Township Ad

This inquiry is focused on potential breaches of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD) by key figures within the Clark Township municipal government and its Police Department.

This action follows a public report issued on November 20, 2023, by the Office of the Attorney General.

The report detailed findings from an earlier investigation into allegations of misconduct by leaders in Clark Township.

The DCR's current investigation will extend beyond these initial findings, delving into various aspects of the Township's operations.Ad A central element of the DCR's probe will be to determine whether Clark Township and its Police Department have implemented adequate measures to rectify any discriminatory practices by their leaders.

Failure to demonstrate effective corrective actions could result in continued liability under the LAD for both the Township and the Police Department.

DCR has made it clear that their investigation will be thorough, impartial, and independent. While the investigation is underway, DCR has stated that they will not provide further comments on the matter.

Officials said this investigation marks a significant step in ensuring that civil rights and anti-discrimination laws are upheld within New Jersey's public institutions.
