Traffic stop leads to drug related arrests in Newton.
According to police, on August 30th, at approximately 10:30 p.m Detectives from the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Newton Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Swartswood Road as part of an ongoing investigation.
Howard Dieterle, 56, of Fredon, was a passenger in the vehicle and was found to be in possession of heroin.
During the investigation, further information was developed that led to the arrest of Shana Segarra, a 36-year-old female from Newton, who was arrested and charged with distribution of heroin.
Dieterle was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He was subsequently lodged in the Sussex County Jail pursuant to the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
Segarra was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and she was released pending an appearance in Superior Court, Central Judicial Processing.
