NEWARK'S SNOWFALL: More Beautifully Scenic Than Substantial

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My friends and family in Newark awoke to traces of what was left of a winter scene this Sunday following the first significant snowstorm the city and region has witnessed in about two years.

Saturday's storm brought a blend of beauty and intensity, with snowfall creating a serene landscape, especially on grassy areas and vehicles.

However, the storm's impact was milder than initially forecasted, proving the adage 'bark was louder than its bite,' at least for Newark and its surrounding towns.

In contrast, parts of northern New Jersey experienced a heavier downfall, receiving several inches of snow.

Physical TherapyThe National Weather Service predicts that Sunday will continue to see periods of rain and snow before noon, with a high near 37 degrees.

The north wind, transitioning northwest in the afternoon, and a 90% chance of precipitation suggest little to no additional snow accumulation due to temperatures staying above the freezing point.

Sunday night's forecast includes mostly cloudy skies in the early evening, followed by gradual clearing and a low of around 31 degrees.

Wind chill values will hover between 25 and 30 degrees, with northwest winds of 8 to 10 mph.

Newark, thus, narrowly escapes a significant snow impact, allowing residents to enjoy the scenic beauty of the snowfall without the usual inconveniences.
