The Newark Police Department is searching for Almisha Billups-Olusola, 43, for questioning regarding an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, August 27, according to Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé.
The incident unfolded around 11 p.m. when a man drove to Miller Street near Brunswick Street in Newark’s Central Ward to pick up a woman he knew.The woman asked to be driven to a gas station in Irvington, where she interacted with another man inside the mini-mart.
After leaving the gas station, the woman asked to be taken to a relative’s home on Brunswick Street.
Upon arriving, the victim and the woman waited in the car while the woman tried to contact her relative.
Shortly thereafter, four men approached the car, opened the front doors, and robbed the victim at gunpoint.
The suspects took the victim’s cell phone, car keys, and wallet, which contained $70, debit cards, and other personal items.
Interestingly, none of the woman’s belongings were taken.
She was picked up by two men in a pickup truck shortly after the robbery but later returned to the scene to retrieve her phone, which she had left in the victim’s car.
One of the suspects reportedly matched the description of the man who had spoken with the woman earlier at the gas station mini-mart.Police are asking for help locating Billups-Olusola, who is described as 5’9” tall with a light-brown complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes. Anyone with information is urged to contact Newark authorities.
