Newark Woman Wanted for Beating Man with Hammer in Virginia Arrested

Newark

Newark – A female suspect, wanted by Virginia authorities for felonious assault and assault and battery, was arrested this morning by Essex County sheriff’s detectives.

Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that Angela M. Jones, 26 of Newark, was apprehended early Wednesday morning at her Fairmount Avenue residence without incident.

“The suspect allegedly beat a Massachusetts man with a hammer yesterday as he was fueling his car at a gas station on I-95 in Virginia,” Sheriff Fontoura said. “Jones then allegedly damaged the victim’s Porsche and his boat with the hammer and spit in the face of the victim’s wife.”

As Jones left the gas station, a witness photographed her car and that information led to today’s arrest.

The Caroline County charges against Jones include felonious assault, assault and battery and two counts of intentional damage to property. According to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office additional charges are pending against Jones.

Jones was lodged at the Essex County jail where she awaits extradition to Virginia.
