Newark Woman Accused of Illegal Dumping After her Alleged Boyfriend Ran From Incident

Police in Newark announced the arrest of Mehreen Khan, 41, of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping that occurred Thursday night.

According to police, at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed a man unloading debris from a silver Mazda wagon in the 300-block of South 12th Street.

Police say Khan dumped several pieces of materials including a significant amount of wood.

Upon becoming aware of police presence, police say the man that accompanied Khan ran and left her there.

Police say Khan was seated in the vehicle’s driver’s seat when they placed her under arrest then charged her with Illegal Dumping and the Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

The vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture according to police.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police are investigating the identity of the second suspect in this incident.
