Detectives assigned to the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested two 16-year-old suspects for a robbery and a shooting in two separate incidents announced Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
According to authorities, on September 14, at approximately 4 a.m., a Newark resident was robbed while walking to a bus stop in the area of Stone Street and Park Avenue.
The second incident occurred on September 22, at approximately 2 p.m., where an Irvington resident was shot along Alexander Street by a unknown drive by vehicle. The victim was treated at Rutgers University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
During their investigation, Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify the two juvenile suspects for each incident and provide active warrants to the Fugitive Apprehension Team.
This morning, F.A.T detectives located the juvenile wanted for the robbery at the 200 block of Chancellor Avenue. After receiving an anonymous tip this afternoon, detectives located the second juvenile wanted for the shooting at the 600 block of 15th Avenue.
Both juveniles were arrested without further incident.
One of the suspects was charged with Robbery and the second suspect charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes and Conspiracy.
