Newark Street Closings Anticipated for 24-Hours of Peace Event

Newark

NEWARK – Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s Eighth Annual '24HrsOf Peace', which begins Friday, September 6, at 6 p.m. and ends Saturday, September 7 at 6 p.m., will impact traffic in the South Ward were the event is being held.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose anticipates road closures in the area of Lyons Avenue between Leslie Street and Clinton Place.

“We are coming up with a plan to minimize the impact on the area for residents and businesses, but I wanted to get the advance word out that there will be some road closure,” Ambrose said. “We will do our very best to make sure things run smoothly and inconveniences are minimal.”

The event, which is free to the public, promotes community-building and advocates for a violence-free city.
