Newark residents are waking up to a humid morning with temperatures starting at 68 degrees, following a night of heavy rain that led to localized flooding in parts of the city across North Jersey.
The National Weather Service reports that the day will clear up after some patchy fog in the early morning, particularly in northern parts of the region.
Once the fog dissipates, sunny skies will prevail and temperatures will climb to a warm 88 degrees by the afternoon.
Winds will be calm in the morning, shifting to a light south breeze of around 6 mph as the day progresses.
Looking ahead, NWS forecasters warn of an even hotter day on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to soar into the mid-90s.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for the heat as summer returns to the region. Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, with a low of around 71 degrees.
