Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose regretfully announces the passing of Special Police Officer Tolbert A. Furr, 59, of Newark, who died today at Clara Maass Medical Center due to Coronavirus complications, according to his family.
“The City of Newark grieves collectively with the family of Special Police Officer Furr,” Mayor Baraka said. “This is a loss that touches us all.”
“Special Police Officer Furr served the people of our city for 25 years,” Director Ambrose said.
“On behalf of the entire Department of Public Safety, Chief of Police Darnell Henry and I extend our deepest condolences to Officer Furr’s family.
He will be remembered with distinction for his longstanding commitment and service to our residents.”
