Newark South Ward Townhouse Fire Displaces Residents

Newark

The American Red Cross assisted about four adults and ten children after an early morning fire tore through their home on Sunday.

According to officials, firefighters were called to a townhouse complex where they found smoke and flames coming from one of the buildings in the 100 block of Peshine Avenue.

Crews made their way up to the second floor of the home, where they found the seat of the blaze, which began to spread into the cockloft of the structure.

The fire was extinguished in under a half-hour, but officials reported significant damage to the home.

There were no injuries reported after firefighters searched the home and the cause is under investigation.
