Late Saturday night, Police in Newark launched an investigation into a shooting incident in the South Ward following reports of gunfire.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of South 10th Street and Madison Avenue after an off-duty officer reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found evidence of the shooting in the form of two shell casings at the scene.
A thorough search of the neighborhood was conducted, but no gunshot victims were discovered.
The suspect, responsible for the gunfire, managed to flee the scene and remains at large.
The Newark Major Crimes unit has been notified and is actively participating in this ongoing investigation.
Police are gathering more information and seeking the public's assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
