Newark South Ward Shooting Leaves One Injured

A shooting incident in Newark's South Ward Tuesday evening resulted in one person being wounded.SupportNewark Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. 

The shooting came to light around 8:45 p.m. when officials at Beth Israel Hospital alerted Newark Police after a male victim arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound.

The victim directed officers to the intersection of Schley Street and Chancellor Avenue as the potential location of the shooting.

Despite an extensive search of the neighborhood, no arrests have been made. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this stage of the investigation.

Authorities have reported that the victim is expected to recover.

Investigations are ongoing as Newark Police work to uncover more details and determine the sequence of events that led to this violent occurrence.
