Investigators in Newark are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured two victims in the city's South Ward on Thursday.
The late Thursday night shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. when gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 973 Bergen Street.
Police say officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of shots fired. Units arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were located.
While police searched the area, officials at Beth Israel Hospital notified authorities that two male victims arrived by private vehicle suffering gunshot wounds.
Officials at the hospital reported that the victims left the medical center but later arrived at University Hospital for treatment and were listed in stable condition as of 2:20 a.m.
There were no arrests in the shooting.
