Newark Shooting Victim Located in East Orange; Teen Victim Also Shot

There is an active investigation underway into an early morning shooting that left two people injured in Newark.

Police located a male victim in the area of Steuben and 9th Ave. suffering injury from gunfire at around 3 a.m this morning.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where he suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the hand according to reports. The victim told authorities that the shooting happened in the 50's block of 3rd Street.

Police went to the address on 3rd Street where they found some evidence of a possible shooting at that location, but no victim.

Authorities were called back to the scene at around 7 a.m. where they were told that a female victim was at the residence suffering injury from apparent gunfire.

Cops arrived to the scene where they located the victim who were reported to be around the age of 17-years-old shot at that location.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where she suffered a non-life threatening gunshot injury to the hand.

The Newark Police Department are investigating the shooting incident.
