An active investigation is underway following a shooting incident in Newark that left one person injured and two vehicles struck by gunfire.
Gunfire erupted shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 33 North 12th Street.
Upon arrival, Newark police secured the area after discovering an unidentified individual with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim was promptly transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. While examining the scene, officers found two unoccupied vehicles that bullets had hit.
Newark's Shooting Response Team was present to assist in the investigation.
The suspect has fled the scene and remains at large.
