Police in Glen Ridge took a Newark resident into custody after he followed a woman to her home last Wednesday.
Police responded to a Hillside Avenue residence on a report of a suspicious person.
According to Glen Ridge Police officials, the resident reported that while walking home from work, an unidentified male followed her to the residence.
Police say the resident entered the home and locked the door.
According to police, the suspect was then observed on the front porch area attempting to gain entry to the residence and looking into the windows before leaving the area.
Police say Officers Andrew Waring and Carl Abrahamsen responded to a local business for a suspicious person, while speaking with the individual, they identified him as the suspect who attempted to gain entry to the residence on Hillside Avenue on Jan 14th.
Det. Anthony Re was able to confirm the identify the suspect from local surveillance footage positively.
Police said the suspect, Mr. Tyrone Jacobs, 54, from Newark, was charged with Criminal Attempt for Trespassing, Trespassing by peering into windows, Harassment and Simple Assault by Physical Menace.
He was taken into custody on Feb. 6th, 2023, by the Glen Ridge Det. Bureau, processed and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
