In the aftermath of severe flash flooding that disrupted Newark and nearby regions, residents are waking to a clearer but cautious day.The heavy rains that previously overwhelmed streets have subsided, offering a moment of reprieve as the storm system moves away.
However, the National Weather Service advises that the area is not completely clear of rain potential yet.
Today, intermittent showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to occur between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., with a higher likelihood of rainfall and thunderstorms resuming after 5 p.m.
While the skies remain mostly cloudy, today's high will approach a comfortable 85 degrees.
As evening approaches, NWS forecasters said the chance of rain decreases but doesn't vanish until after midnight. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the day while remaining prepared for sudden weather shifts.
Tonight's weather will cool down to a low of around 63 degrees, with lingering clouds and scattered showers.
