Newark City officials, the City’s LGBTQ Concerns Advisory Commission, Newark Pride, Inc., and other dignitaries will hold a Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony as part of the 16th Annual Newark LGBTQIA+ Pride Week today at 6 p.m. in the City Hall First Floor Rotunda, 920 Broad Street.
Officials said rainbow progressive flag, a universal symbol of LGBTQIA+ pride and inclusion, will fly outside City Hall for the duration of the 16th annual Newark LGBTQIA Pride Week.
Mayor Baraka has made a firm commitment to supporting the needs and equality of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The City of Newark created it’s first-ever LGBTQ Commission 10 years ago. This year marks the 16th anniversary of Newark’s pride and celebrates the accomplishments and progress of Newark and the global community regarding LGBTQIA+ advancement and inclusion.
After the flag-raising, there will be a reception at Nico Kitchen and Bar at NJPAC as we kick off Newark LGBTQIA Pride Week events.
