** "We just dropped off our baby literally minutes before this vehicle crashed into us at a high rate of speed"** (Victims)
An East Orange couple that were on their way out for an evening at NJPAC in Newark were rerouted to the hospital late last night when their vehicle was blindsided by a speeding car reportedly alluding police.
According to reports, officers from the Newark Police Department were following a vehicle possibly wanted for an earlier shooting in the city's West Ward that refused to stop at around 8:35 p.m.
The vehicle 9with several occupants inside0 sped it's way into East Orange, coming to a crashing halt into a vehicle at Eppirt Street and Rhode Island Avenue that was occupied by the East Orange couple reports said.
With Newark Police Officers nearby and East Orange Officers making their way to the scene, several male suspects bailed from the vehicle initiating a foot pursuit according to reports.
Police were able to catchup with at least two of the suspects after the brief foot pursuit.
EMS transported the pair to University Hospital in Newark where the male victim suffered a non-life threatening head injury and received nearly a dozen stitches according to the victim.
The woman suffered some bumps and bruises but the couple were able to leave the hospital at around 5 a.m.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
