Newark Public School’s superintendent Roger Leon has announced that all schools and Central Office will have a 10 a.m. delayed opening on Friday.
According to Superintendent Leon, due to inclement weather and heavy icing conditions on roads, the district will delay the start of the school day.
According to the National Weather Service, a wintry mix of snow and sleet is expected to develop Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The precipitation then changes to freezing rain and rain after daybreak Friday morning.
Impacts to the Friday morning commute are possible, especially away from the immediate coast, where the wintry mix hangs on longest before a changeover to plain rain.
