Two Newark Pop Warner Football Teams have advanced to the 59th Annual National Championship rounds that will be held next weekend at Disney World in Orlando Florida.
The Brick City Lions Pee-Wee level (ages 10-12) defeated The Spring Valley Hornets by a score of 29-o in a 10:30 a.m. contest Friday morning in Watchung Hills, NJ.
The teams' Junior Midget Division (ages 11-13) defeated the Pennridge Greenjackets of Perkasie, PA in a contest that had the Brick City Lions down at halftime.
The Lions were victorious over the Greenjackets by a score of 20-14 in the 12:30 p.m. contest.
According to the coaching staff, both teams have come along way in building not only football skills, but their focus on building togetherness, showing the importance of working for the "greater good", and the importance of having and keeping a positive attitude.
"We want to show our participants that their hard work and dedication is always key to winning on and off of the football field. We want to keep the positive spirit that we have instill in our boys by showing them that through hard work, remaining focused, and being committed, they can and will accomplish anything they put their minds to", the coaching staff said.
The teams need our assistance in making their travels a reality with your donations to assist in making to Florida.
