Newark Police to Walk with Thousands for a Cure for Breast Cancer in Downtown Newark

Members of the Newark Police Division will participate among thousands in the American Cancer Society’s 21st Annual “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Walk by debuting a newly painted pink Police vehicle this morning.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose “We wanted to do something this year to really make a difference by underscoring our support of the fight against breast cancer. Police officers will showcase this pink vehicle as a symbol of our commitment to finding a cure. We invite members of the public to stop by to see the vehicle and to take photos with us", Director Ambrose said.

The Walk, beginning at 10 a.m., will start at New Jersey Devils Championship Plaza, Prudential Center, in downtown Newark which is located at Mulberry and Market Streets according to organizers.

Nationally, in 2018, more than 266,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,920 will die from the disease this year. Also, about 2,550 men are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.
