Newark authorities announced that they request the public’s help with identifying the suspect, who pointed a gun at a victim during a home invasion on November 16.According to Newark officials, the home invasion occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. after the suspect and another male suspect attempted to steal an electric bike from a residence on Elm Street.
Owners of the electric bicycle chased the suspects and retrieved it after an altercation, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. stated.
As the owners were filing a robbery report at the Franklin Street precinct, the suspects returned to the owner’s Elm Street home, where they kicked in the door brandishing a weapon, Newark Police said.
They confronted a basement tenant, demanding that the tenant return their cell phone, officials say. The suspects then fled from the residence.
Newark authorities said that suspect # 1, armed with a handgun, is a tall, skinny, light-skinned male who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Suspect #2 is a dark-skinned male with brown hair and a medium build. He wore a blue and white jacket and multi-colored pants, Newark officials said. Director Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
