Authorities in Newark are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, a person of interest in a robbery that occurred on November 3.Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. stated that the robbery occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on the 200 block of Park Avenue as the victim was sitting in his vehicle at that location.
The suspect, armed with a handgun, knocked on the victim’s driver’s side window, Newark Police said. When the victim opened his door slightly, the suspect swung it open and took the victim’s $6,000 that was in his wallet.
According to Newark officials, the victim’s iPhone was also taken after he took a picture of the suspect’s vehicle, a beige Toyota Corolla bearing New Jersey registration U32RWY.
After taking the phone, the suspect drove away northbound on North 5th Street, Newark authorities said.Director Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information about the individual’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
