Newark Police are searching for a suspect connected to a shots-fired incident that erupted in one of the city’s neighborhoods on Saturday evening.Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the area of 16th Avenue and South 6th Street around 9:25 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple shell casings but reported no injuries after a thorough search of the neighborhood.
The scene was secured, and Newark’s Shooting Response Team was notified to assist in the investigation.
Detectives are working to determine if this incident may be linked to a deadly shooting that occurred minutes earlier, just blocks away near West Side Park.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
