Newark Police Seek Public Help to Identify Suspects in Armed Robbery

Newark Police are calling for the public's assistance to identify two suspects involved in an armed robbery that took place on the evening of Thursday, April 4.AdAccording to a statement from Newark Police, at around 8:42 p.m., a woman was sitting in her vehicle on the 900 block of South 18th Street when two Black males approached her.

The suspects demanded her possessions at gunpoint.

The assailants fled with the victim’s book bag-type purse, which contained $4,000 and an iPhone XR.

They were last seen running northbound on South 19th Street towards Avon Avenue.AdThe first suspect is described as thin, with a dark brown complexion, and was seen wearing a vest, a hooded sweatshirt, pants, and white sneakers.

Police said the second suspect has a medium build, a light brown complexion, and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, pants, and a surgical mask during the incident.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with any information regarding the identity of these individuals to come forward and contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

The police hope that with the public's help, they can swiftly apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime.
