Newark Police Searching for Burglar Caught on Surveillance Breaking into a Home

Newark Police reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for Victor Evans, a 48-year-old known burglar who was captured on surveillance video breaking into a home on July 18. 

According to police officials, police responded to a call about a burglary that occurred around 12:43 p.m. at a two-story home in the 400 block of South 10th Street.  

The victim told police that when she returned home, the rear door was open and the front door was cracked. Several items were missing, including a purse with money, alcohol, a cellphone, and earrings.           According to police, Evans, a Black male, is described as 5’7’’ and 160 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair, and a medium complexion. 

On surveillance video, Evans, who has a salt and pepper colored beard, was wearing a black fitted hat, a white T-shirt with a red stain on the collar, two gold chains, baggy blue jeans, and black shoes. His last known address is in Paterson.     While detectives investigate this incident, they seek the public’s help with locating Evans,  Newark Police urges anyone with information of him to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
