Newark police are seeking a male suspect involved in an aggravated assault stabbing that took place early Friday morning. At approximately 3 a.m. on December 20, officers responded to University Hospital after receiving a report that a man had arrived seeking treatment for stab wounds.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred while the victim was sitting in his vehicle with two women at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Park Avenue.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, entered the rear seat of the vehicle and began arguing with one of the female passengers.
The victim asked all occupants to exit the vehicle, at which point the suspect stabbed him and fled the scene on foot.
The victim contacted a relative who transported him to University Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
