Police in Newark searched a section of the city's North Ward after an armed robbery had the suspect fleeing through the neighborhood overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the vicinity of 230 Mount Prospect Street at approximately 10:20 p.m. and after they received reports of an armed robbery at gunpoint that occurred in the area.
Police began a search for a black male suspect who reportedly wore dark clothing and a mask with he pointed a weapon and conducted the robbery.
Officers from The Essex County Sheriff's Office were requested to the scene to assist in the search.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
