Newark police officials request the public help with identifying the suspects who robbed a male victim on July 8.
Police responded to a call about a robbery that occurred around 4:58 a.m. at Union Street and Dodd Alley.
According to police, the victim was walking northbound on Union Street when two Hispanic males approached him on a scooter.
Police said that Suspect #1 pushed the victim to the ground and punched him several times. After the assault, suspect #1 pulled out a knife and demanded that the victim give up his wallet.
Suspect #2 then took the victim’s wallet and cellphone. Both men fled on the scooter, traveling northbound on Union Street.
According to police, Suspect #1, described as a white Hispanic male, was wearing black shorts, a grey tank top, a white T-shirt over his shoulder, black sneakers, and a black crossbody fanny pack.
Suspect #2, described as a white Hispanic male, was wearing black pants, a white T-shirt with a decal in the center, and white and grey sneakers.
Newark Police officials urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
