Police in Newark requests the public’s help in identifying the individuals wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred Monday night.
Police said just before 8 p.m., a driver and passenger parked in the area of Duryea and Orange streets were approached by a male with a gun who demanded their vehicle, a Ford Fusion.
Upon fleeing the scene, the suspect struck two vehicles on Duryea street before exiting the stolen vehicle and running away, headed toward Sussex Avenue.
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspect and a second individual who served as a lookout during the carjacking.
The first suspect is described as a heavy-set male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was also wearing a black ski mask.
The second suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and ripped jeans. This suspect may be a female.
