A pair of suspects wanted for nearly a half-dozen armed robberies that occurred around the city of Newark had police chase their vehicle with the pursuit coming to an end in Union.
A citywide alert for a black or dark-colored pickup truck occupied by at least two male suspects, who were driving around the city committing, robberies had patrolling police officers locate the vehicle and attempt to pull it over. The assailants ignored officer's lights and sirens initiating a pursuit that touched off in two counties.
Police followed the car to the westbound side of I-78 where it ultimately ended up on Morris Avenue, in the final stages of the pursuit, where the truck crashed at the Loews Shopping Center in Union at around 3:30 a.m.
The suspects bailed from the vehicle with police engaged in a foot pursuit.
One suspect was taken into custody as police from Union and the NJ State Police assisting in the search for the remaining suspect.
According to authorities, the at-large suspect has been identified as a black male who they said is missing his two front teeth and is possibly armed with guns.
There were no injuries reported.
