Newark Police took a male suspect into custody after he attempted to rob a woman earlier this morning in East Orange.
Officers patrolling the East Orange border observed a male snatch a woman's pocketbook in front of a bakery in the 900 block of South Orange Avenue at around 9:30 a.m.
Officer attempting to stop the suspect had the man sprint from the scene and onto Norwood Street in East Orange.
According to reports, the 5'10" tall suspect, who wore a red shirt, ran through several yards before Newark officers caught up with him in the 30's block of Halsted.
The suspect was arrested then turned over to East Orange Police.
There were no injuries reported.
