Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara, said at 3:55 p.m. today, a uniformed Newark Police Officer was struck by a vehicle in the 500 block of Irvine Turner Blvd.
According to Director O’Hara, the incident occurred during a block party, where the suspect’s vehicle also struck two children attending the event.
The officer and other victims were evaluated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries.
Director O’Hara said a 10-year-old girl was transported to Beth Israel Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver did not remain at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
