Newark Police Make 18 Arrests in Effort to Combat Crime

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. has announced that police have arrested 18 individuals on a variety of charges, including robbery, aggravated assault, and carjacking. 

These arrests are part of the Newark Police Division’s ongoing efforts to reduce crime and enhance public safety across the city.

Among those arrested:  

- Salik Davon Hill, 19, of Newark, taken into custody on February 19, 2025, for robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Alexis D. Santiago, 25, of Newark, arrested on February 11, 2025, for aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- A 17-year-old from Newark, arrested on February 7, 2025, for carjacking and making terroristic threats.  


- Elijah S. Estelle, 18, of East Orange, arrested on February 4, 2025, for carjacking and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Altariq Moe, 26, of Newark, arrested on February 3, 2025, for robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- A 16-year-old from Newark, arrested on January 30, 2025, for carjacking and conspiracy.  


- A 13-year-old from Newark, arrested on January 28, 2025, for aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and possession of a weapon.  


- A 15-year-old from Newark, arrested on January 27, 2025, for robbery and conspiracy.  


- Taquee N. Saunders, 19, of Newark, arrested on January 27, 2025, for robbery, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Thomas P. Mitchell, 41, of Newark, arrested on January 21, 2025, for aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Quazjeir Boyd, 19, of Newark, arrested on January 17, 2025, for robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Felicia K. Wyche, 24, of Newark, arrested on January 15, 2025, for robbery.  


- Quasim N. Hayes, 19, of Newark, arrested on January 10, 2025, for robbery, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.  


- Jason E. Artis, 23, of Newark, arrested on January 10, 2025, for robbery, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Jayden Santiago, 18, of Newark, arrested on January 9, 2025, for robbery, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- A 15-year-old from Newark, arrested on January 9, 2025, for robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.  


- Imani Washington, 21, of Newark, arrested on January 5, 2025, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and making terroristic threats.  


- A 13-year-old from Newark, arrested on December 27, 2024, for carjacking and conspiracy.

Authorities stress that these arrests are part of a broader strategy to address crime and ensure community safety. However, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
