Police in Newark are investigating separate instances of shots fired that rang out in the city overnight.
According to reports, the fire incident happened at around 7:05 p.m. in the 200 block of 6th Avenue West were police responded to reports of shots fired at that location.
Upon officer's arrival, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred but no victim was located.
A search of the area had police locate about a half dozen shell casings reports said.
In a separate shooting, police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Mountainview Place and Sanford Avenue shortly before 3:45 a.m. where investigating officers arrived to find a single shell casing during their search.
There were no injuries immediately reported in the West Ward shooting.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
