Newark Police are probing two separate shooting incidents in the city, with suspects still at large.
Early Wednesday morning, a ShotSpotter device alerted officers to gunfire in the South Ward neighborhood, specifically around 54 Fabyan Place, at around 2 a.m.
Arriving units discovered ballistic evidence confirming a shooting, but no victims were found at the scene.
In a second, unrelated incident, Newark's West Ward was the scene of another shooting on Tuesday evening.
Around 8:10 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 14 Isabelle Avenue. Similarly, they found shell casings but no victims.
Both incidents are currently under active investigation by the Newark Police Department, with the Shooting Response Team assisting in both cases.
As of now, the suspects involved in these shootings remain at large, and authorities are working diligently to track them down.
