Newark

Police in Newark believe the same suspect is linked to two shots-fired incidents that occurred in the city on Monday evening.

According to a preliminary investigation, in the first incident, shooters fired multiple shots in the 400 block of South 15th Street just before 7:40 p.m.

Police officers arrived and searched the area and were only able to find shell casings, but no victims.

Police say about an hour later, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Garside Street and 6th Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found several shell casings, but a search of the area indicated no victims.

Newark officers attempted to pull over a black Mercedes that was wanted for the shooting, but the driver sped away from police and was last observed in the area of Eagles Parkway and Howard Street.
