Police are investigating a shooting that occurred this afternoon in Newark's South Ward, leaving one man injured Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:05 p.m. in the single-digit block of Marie Street near Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Upon arrival, they found a male victim with gunshot wounds to both legs.
He was transported to University Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
According to the police, the suspects were in a silver Toyota Highlander and fled the scene after the shooting.
The suspects remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
