The Newark Police Department is actively investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred late Wednesday night in the city's West Ward.
At approximately 11 p.m., authorities responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of South 10th Street and South Orange Avenue.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered multiple shell casings near 376 South Orange Avenue, indicating that the suspects had fired nearly half a dozen rounds at unknown individuals before swiftly fleeing from the area.
Officials said no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The Newark Police Department is conducting inquiries in order to apprehend those responsible for the shots fired.
Residents and witnesses with any information related to this incident are encouraged to come forward and assist law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
