Newark’s Shooting Response Team was dispatched to the Vailsburg section of the city Sunday afternoon to investigate a shots fired incident that occurred shortly before 5 p.m. near 114 Pine Grove Terrace.
Officers were alerted by a ShotSpotter activation indicating gunfire in the West Ward community.
Upon arrival, they secured the area and requested crime scene units after discovering shell casings at the location.
A thorough search of the neighborhood revealed no reported injuries, and the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
Authorities have not announced any arrests.
