Police in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred overnight in the Central Ward.
Around midnight, authorities were alerted to the situation by a ShotSpotter device, indicating gunfire in the vicinity of 211 West Kinney Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered shell casings scattered in the area.
Despite an extensive search of the neighborhood, no victims were located at the scene.
The Newark Shooting Response Team was summoned to aid in the investigation.
The suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting had already fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
